Sapphire Reserve Hotel and Edit Credits

The Edit credits can elevate your stay. Here are the things I learned and tips for booking your reward stays with the Edit.

Until almost halfway through 2026, I didn't know that you can pay part with points and part with cash through the Chase travel portal for booking stays. This opened a whole new world of possibilities to use my Edit credits and IHG and Select Hotel credits!

I no longer needed to try to find a stay that was totally covered with the credits to still travel for free! The options expanded, and I was able to book some great stays and paid even less points than I would through Hyatt!

I have already stayed at the Grand Hyatt Deer Valley for 21k points for two nights, the Hyatt Regency in Huntington Beach for 17k points a night (see blog post for how I booked my 4 nights), and now I am going to Italy in March for less than 22k points a night at the Il Tornabuoni Hotel in Florence, which is 45k points through Hyatt for the same nights we booked!

All these hotels above are part of the collection of hotels through Chase travel, called the Edit. I booked two nights each booking and received the $250 Edit credit from Chase when I used my Reserve cc (I have both the business and personal reserve cards which allowed me to receive the credit four times this year).

I have enjoyed the Edit benefits on two trips now, and have learned a thing or two. Things could be for sure different depending on the hotel, but here is a good idea of what to expect. Here are my tips:

  • For stays in the US, if you have a family, still search under the two adults default, the price per stay can be less even for two queen beds in one room than if you were searching to sleep 4 in a room.
  • You can book back to back bookings to get a credit for every two days you want to stay (see blog post for how this works at the hotel).
  • If traveling with kids, do NOT take the buffet option in the mornings that the hotel offers certain days of the week. You will get much more value and likely feed a family of 4 (or even 5) if you order a la carte. Each stay I have had, the same rules applied - you can order up to twice the price of their most expensive item (only entree, not entree + drinks), and its still considered free under the Edit, taxes and tip are also covered in the complimentary breakfast. These were both Hyatt stays, and I imagine each hotel could operate differently, so check the rules at your hotel! An employee at our last stay even spilled that the tip has to be a normal amount, she thought it had to be 10-15% to be covered, but we tipped 18-20% and it was still covered!
  • The typical $100 credit for a stay can be and is often used for parking, but I recommend not bringing a car because then you can actually enjoy the hotel credit.

If you are like me and still have to book an IHG hotel to use those credits, remember you can still enjoy the Edit perks if you book an IHG or Select hotel that is also an Edit hotel! That's what I will be looking for!

You can also stack IHG hotel credit and Edit credits if you like, to get more of the stay covered through credits when booking stays that fall under both categories. Remember to also look for a points boost! This is when you will get the most value! If you aren’t paying part in points, the points boost essentially doesn’t matter because it’s just cash for cash.

The Edit perks are my favorite, and elevate my stay because I am the type that I would typically NOT pay $100 for breakfast or any meal! I get to rest easy knowing it's covered and enjoy spoiling myself.
